Welcome to ilovebacteria.com formally known as Ratlab.co.uk!

I can't count the number of times I have watched Tom attempt to catch Jerry by placing a piece of cheese on one of those snappy mouse traps, only to be thwarted by the smart mouse, ending up with the trap on his tail/nose. It seems, however, that mice don't really like cheese that much, they would rather have a nice bar of chocolate. In addition, most cats I have known love cheese and will eat huge quantities of it given half a chance. I don't really know why this is, I guess its just a matter of taste. I do know that cats aren't meant to like chocolate as they don't have any sweet taste buds. It's quite interesting that, despite not being able to taste sweet things, they often seem to adore eating marshmallows. This is, however, probably because they like the texture. But that doesn't answer the whole mouse/cheese/chocolate thing. Cats do like to eat high protein, high fat foods, being completely carnivorous animals. Could this be why they like cheese so much, or will they, in fact, eat most things given half a chance? I once had a cat that loved pancakes and blueberry muffins for some reason.
