Welcome to ilovebacteria.com formally known as Ratlab.co.uk!

Hi girls, my name is Chlamydia trachomatis. I am the most common sexually transmitted disease and its estimated that over 2 million people between 14 and 39 are infected in the US without even knowing it.

That's why I am so clever. I can infect you and you probably won't realise until its too late. See, I can cause irreversible damage to your reporductive organs, resulting in infertility in some cases, completely silently. No symptoms, no warning signs. No kids.

Some people are luckier. They get a warning in the form of lower back pain, nausea and unusual bleeding. If caught in time, I am really easy to treat with antibiotics.

Men should watch out too - they can catch me and get some pretty annoying symptoms if they're unlucky. But worse than that, they might have no symptoms at all and can then pass me on to their girlfriends without even realising. Of course, the really smart folks get themselves screened and try to prevent catching me in the first place by practicing safe sex.
